Our Services: Carpet Cleaning: Carpeting is one of the largest investments in your home. To keep it beautiful, clean and long-lasting, you need to maintain it on a regular basis. Although vacuuming frequently helps, alone it is not enough. Carpeting should be professionally cleaned by the hot water extraction method (commonly known as steam cleaning) every 12-18 months. The first step is pre-spray all of the open areas. Pre-treating the carpet breaks up any soil, dirt or food-related spots in your carpeting. This is an essential step to properly clean the carpeting. Unfortunately, many carpet cleaners skip this important step to cut cost, which compromises the cleaning quality. We are happy to move some furniture in your home, such as sofas, loveseats, oversized chairs, coffee tables, etc. Then place Styrofoam blocks under the furniture legs to ensure that there is no transfer of furniture stain from the legs of the furniture to the carpeting while it is drying, as that can cause permanent staining. * Please do not remove furniture from blocks for 24 hours, to ensure proper drying. Once the pre-spray has worked its magic of breaking up dirt, the cleaning begins. Use powerful, truck-mounted equipment and cleaning solutions to break through the dirt, grease, and hundreds of other pollutants you track into your home daily. We then effectively extract the dirt, water and cleaning solutions from your carpet, rinsing away all residues. Hot water extraction, or stream cleaning, is the most thorough cleaning available because the hot water cuts through dirt, all the way down to the base of the carpet fibers. One common myth is that the water will penetrate the backing of the carpeting and sink into the pad. If that was the case, , as well as scores of other manufacturers, would not recommend the Hot Water Extraction method as their ONLY recommended method of cleaning. WARNING: Other methods such as dry foam, dry cleaning, oxygen cleaning, or host cleaning methods may void your warranty! After the carpet has been cleaned, we apply a rinse that neutralizes the carpet. Why is this important? Even though we extract the water and cleaning solutions from the carpet, we take extra steps to ensure that no residue is left. The neutralizer ensures that the carpet will be left clean, soft, fresh and free of residue. Many companies skip this step to save money and time. Make sure your cleaner gives you your money's worth! We use a special carpet rake which gently lifts the carpet fibers upright. This helps to speed up the drying process, while also eliminating the vacuum lines left by the cleaning process. The result? A beautiful, fluffed up carpet that looks like it was just installed. We know that one of the main concerns clients have is "How long will it take to dry?" This is a valid question, and we want you, the client, to be able to use your carpeting as soon as possible. As a result, we use our Turbo Drying System to help speed up the drying process as much as possible. How long does it take for carpeting to dry? In normal conditions, anywhere between 3-6 hours. We recommend opening windows (when weather permits) and using fans, or heating/air conditioners whenever possible to speed up the dry times. Cold or hot weather outside? We take extra measures to ensure that the cold/hot air stays outside while we clean. Pictued left is a door guard made of insulated nylon which seals the majority of cold air outside.

MOLD: A Reasonable Approach What is Mold? We all have probably all encountered mold at one time or another. It might have been in the shower, or on a stale piece of bread or cheese. There are many different species of mold, but all molds share some common characteristics. Molds thrive in moist and humid environments. Molds require an organic food source. One common food source is cellulose, which is found in building materials such as wood and drywall.  Molds are spread by microscopic airborne particles called “spores.”   Molds and mold spores are naturally present in the outdoor environment all around us. However, indoor mold growth can become a tenacious problem. Mold spreads rapidly and produces an unpleasant musty odor. If allowed to grow unchecked, mold can cause materials. A significant amount of mold can impact indoor air quality and can be difficult and costly to remove. Mold contamination is a growing concern for homeowners, property managers, insurance providers and restoration companies.  What is the best defense? Mold can start to grow in as little as 48 hours. To prevent the spread of mold, it is important to react quickly in the event of a water loss. By identifying and eliminating the source of the water and implementing rapid drying processes, mold growth can be curtailed. The most effective drying techniques involve the use of sensitive tools to measure and record the temperature, humidity and moisture content of both the structure and contents of the home or building. Professional water damage restoration can mean the difference between a small water problem and a structure covered with mold. ServiceMaster Clean professionally trained technicians use the latest water restoration and drying techniques to deliver quality results.  For 24 hour emergency service, call 303-791-6000. Appropriate Action is Key If we observe mold, we will respond appropriately, immediately reporting our observations to the insurance company. When the extent of mold contamination is isolated and/or less than 10 square feet, expensive testing and protocols are generally not required. The ServiceMaster Clean Network can proceed with the claim and perform emergency water mitigation services, including remediation of the 10 square feet or less of mold. We will isolate the contaminated area and remove the mold, while protecting the surrounding areas form the possible spread of mold spores.  When we encounter the affected area of more than 10 square feet, we will contain the contaminated area, stop normal water mitigation procedures and immediately notify the insurance company. In these cases, we strongly recommend the use of an environmental testing service to establish baseline levels of mold, identify the types of mold present and develop a written remediation plan. Our goal is to work with the insurance company to establish the proper procedures to handle the mold situation. Mold in your home or business can damage the structural integrity of your property and cause some mild to serious health problems to at risk people ( children, elderly, diabetics, people on antibiotics, people going through chemotherapy, immunocompromised people, …). Mold can be caused by a large variety of conditions in your home besides having a water damage incident. It can be caused by an improperly balanced HVAC system, a humidistat malfunctioning, a compromised vapor barrier, cracks in an exterior wall allowing moisture to migrate inside, and the list goes on and on. If one of these problems occur, mold can become a problem rather quickly. At the first sign of mold or musty odors, it is better to act quickly than to ignore it.  At ServiceMaster, we are Certified in Mold Remediation by the IICRC and the IAQA.
